I watched Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind the other day while thinking of my other half all throughout the movie. I tried to picture erasing one my ex’s and I do not think I would be able to go through with it. Although there are a few things I would like to forget, I do have happy memories I could not picture forgetting. Also, all the moments–the good, the bad–they make up who I was, and who I am.
Plus, I think that even if I would go through such procedure, I’d end up repeating the things I had done. Perhaps I’d find my ex and we’d get together as if it were the first time we met or maybe I’d just have a parallel relationship with another person…?
There is a reason for why we meet certain people at certain times in our lives and why we don’t. Those who regret relationships they have had in the past, shouldn’t for there weren’t only bad times and even if they might be numerous at times, there was a lesson to gain from it. Those lessons make us who we are or don’t. They might just let us know what we aren’t looking for.
Don’t live life with regrets for they make us who we are.
