Paluma National Park

A short stop but worthy of a mention: Paluma National Park

On our way down towards Airlie beach, one of the only stops we made was at Paluma. In our guide we found that this park would be ideal for a picnic and quick swim in the waterfalls. The falls ended up being a two hour hike away which was unfortunately a bit too long for our time table but we ran into a couple of backpackers riding up the coast on motorcycles that pointed out a spot where we swam with turtles and small fish.

We also spotted an iguana camouflaging on a tree. Honestly, we wouldn’t have seen it if a family of 6 hadn’t been huddled around it.

Furthermore, we saw a snake… it was dead but it still counts, right?
All in all, we had a swell couple of hours soaking in the sun and bathing in the river. If you’re ever in the area, Paluma should be on your to-do list!
